Pyeongchang Tour!

Had the chance to go for a Pyeongchang tour organized by the Korean Tourism Organization last winter as they were promoting the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games. I met one of the managers from the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games College Writing program that I was part of last year there as well, taking photos. It was really fun as we had the opportunity to snowboard in the morning for like a short 2 hours before we carried on with the rest of the program.

Went for lunch in the resort's cafeteria before heading back out to the competition grounds. Other than having the usual slopes where people snowboard, they were also hosting one of the preliminary  or final rounds for a competition. Had a chance to bring out my new 70-200mm for a spin in the weather with fast moving people on snowboards, skis and high slopes!

Had a great time snapping photos. The 70-200m was swift in focusing and snapping and with the IS, images were well stabilized and sharp. Indeed a magnificent lens on top of the fact that it is weather sealed to withstand even cold temperatures. Had a lot of fun shooting other people as well as J. After that, we headed to the last location for the day which was a cultural training center where we were to make bibimbap in a huge bowl and eat it.

We were to meet up with the director of the Korean Tourism Organization in the Gangwon-do province as well, greet him and have dinner together with him.

Went around to snap some photos since there was time for us to look around before heading in for dinner. Practiced a little stop-motion photography since I was at it. Trust me, I was not the tired one as I did not have to keep jumping on the same spot for every single photo. 

Gathered back inside, awaited the arrival of the director and the lady, and then we proceeded with the making of the huge bibimbap. It was pretty interesting how they mixed everything together and had to stir it with a big spoon. It's the same feeling you get when you see an everyday object in its larger size, or in its miniature size. It's normal, yet it's just so special that you can't keep your eyes off it.

After all the mixing, hard labor and serving, we all sat down to eat. Well, I'm not a huge fan of rice and vegetables, but I do like the seaweed and seasoning together with rice. After a filling dinner, we gathered back on the bus and headed back to Seoul, back to my own warm home!
